A GOOD GPS UNIT
Always a great idea for anyone that does anything in the backcountry. I would highly recommend the versions that accept micro SD cards with preloaded topographic maps. One very popular in the hunting industry is OnX Hunt Maps. If your significant already has a gps, get them an OnX hunt chip or app download for their phone/gps to see private land ownership, topos, and satellite imaging.
